I just brought in a Celine Medium Ava Triomphe bag in black smooth calfskin, and it's a perfect excuse to actually explain what I think makes Celine worth paying attention to, beyond just being a recognizable name.

The Triomphe clasp is the detail that matters most here. It's a single, gold-tone hardware piece, not an all-over logo print, and that restraint is exactly the quiet luxury instinct I've written about before. When I check a piece like this for authenticity, that clasp is the first thing I examine, it needs to be precisely cast, with clean edges and real weight, not light or slightly rounded at the edges the way a lower quality casting would come out.
