MCM's Visetos Canvas: The Comeback I Didn't See Coming

MCM is a brand I've watched swing back into real demand over the past few years, and I have a Visetos Monogram crossbody in the shop that's a good example of exactly why. The Visetos canvas, MCM's signature repeating logo print, went through a period of being seen as dated, and now it's squarely back, which is a genuinely interesting case study in how resale demand actually moves.

When I authenticate a Visetos piece, print alignment at the seams is the first thing I check, same principle as Fendi's Zucchino canvas, a printed pattern that lines up cleanly across cut panels takes real manufacturing precision. On a lower quality copy, that pattern often shifts noticeably right where two panels meet.

Hardware on MCM pieces tends to be substantial, and the brand's logo plate or clasp should have real weight and a crisp, precise finish. I also check the canvas texture itself, genuine Visetos has a specific coated feel, not too stiff, not too soft, consistent across the whole piece.

What I find genuinely interesting about MCM's resale trajectory is that it's a real example of a brand cycling back into relevance after a down period, which most fashion doesn't do. A lot of brands that fall out of favor stay out of favor. MCM's comeback tells you something about genuine design recognition surviving even through a quiet stretch, which is actually a reassuring signal if you already own pieces from the brand's earlier heyday, they were never actually worthless, demand just went quiet for a while.

If you're buying MCM now, I think you're buying in at a reasonable point in that cycle, not at the very bottom, but before it's fully caught back up to its earlier peak demand. That's usually the smartest time to buy into any brand's comeback story.
